Premuims 2010 at the RA - Part 1

My World is currently a mostly grey, too infrequently sunny and very much gripped in winter cold. From time to time this gloomy existence is once in a while in need of a little cheering up, a little distraction. This Saturday past my Fabulous Other Half (FOH*) and I, in search of said distraction, went to check out Premiums 2010 at the Royal Academy.

The Premiums is an annual exhibition of contemporary work by second year students studying at the Royal Academy Schools. Premiums is an excellent opportunity to view new work by emerging artists at the interim point of their 3 year course. Works in the exhibition include painting, sculpture, video and photography. Read more from the Premiums page here.

*Thanks to Brit Gal for pointing out my TLA (three letter acronym) mistake - not FAH, but FOH..oops.

Here are some pics of of the offerings for your perusal.
Click on the images to see them in a larger format.

The main Gallery space. There were 2 more rooms.

Oliver Osborne - Partners, Acrylic on Canvas, 162 x 245 cm

Oliver Osborne - Growing Right, Acrylic on Canvas, 150 x 210 cm

Katy KirbachHeartbeats, paper and acrylic on canvas, 200 x 230cm

John Vickers - Commander, mixed media, 154 x 80 x 80cm

Nicholas Hatfull - (oops, can't remember what this one is called)

And that's it for part 1. Be sure to come back tomorrow to see part 2.
But only if you enjoyed the little look into Premiums 2010 of course.

This is great. Thank-you. I lived in London for about 20 years, and now I'm in the sticks I still miss the galleries, theatres and second-hand bookshops. London's still a great place despite the grey skies of February! Greetings from the blue skies of Italy. Louise.

I know it's gray in London, like it's gray in Seattle, so this was a real treat! Really interesting and lovely works of art! Thanks for the visit, look forward to the next installment! Have a great week, Rob, keep your spirits up, spring will come -- well, at least that's what I tell myself every morning!!

It's a great museum, it's just I am not a huge modern art fan, go in more for the classics. However I do like the last one you can't name lol!

BTW this has been bugging me forever, so I'll ask - why FAH and not FOH, as it's other??
