More Ham Anyone?

Look at that moody sky over Ham House when we arrived

I thought you might enjoy a second helping of Ham House.Well why wouldn't you. There are always so many wonderful photo ops to be had when visiting these interesting National Trust properties that I'm afraid I get a bit snap happy getting carried away working the camera till it steams. Figuratively of course.

After viewing the interior we toured the grounds, now under sunnier skies

Fortunately for you dear reader, in the quiet of my home, my manic enthusiasm is tempered and I choose just a few of the better shots to share with you. Well, that and the fact that not all of the pics turn out that great. Who am I kidding, some of them are just plain awful.

The house and gardens bathed in sun

In this pic you can clearly see the original 1610 house and different additions to the house in the 1700s and 1800s.

Interestingly, the week before we visited was the 400th Anniversary of Ham House. Built in 1610 and owned and little changed by the same family from 1626 to 1948 when it was given to the National Trust.

Showing your wife in front of Ham House really showcases how huge it is. Don't tell me you are also one of those people who is snap-happy? I enjoy your photography, Rob - I wouldn't mind if you posted 10-12 more!

First thing we did when we visited the UK was to purchase a pass for National Trust properties! Ham House was one we did not get to visit, thanks for sharing!

Interesting old buildings like that do provide lots of photo inspiration. Lovely to see them being preserved and appreciated. Happy Sky Watch Friday.

Beautiful photos! That is one of the reasons I would like to tour England - to see those old houses and gardens! Of course if you continue sharing these pics, I won`t have to!!

Has Miranda called yet? I`d love to see a picture of her and you guys! But I don`t know how long she`ll stay in London.

Such an amazing house (or should I say a very stately home indeed?). I love that last shot with the gardens and the facade.

So are you actually a Robin as well? The outlaw thing never bothered me (heck, until the Kevin Costner film came out no one here could even pronounce my name - I kept getting called Reuven!) but that damn song is another story altogether. That, and that horrible no good very bad Batman parody that has Robin laying an egg in the chorus! Couldn't live that down for all my elementary school years!

Nice combination of house and sky Rob. I would imagine that maintaining a house like that in these times must be quite costly, which is a good reason to give it to the National Trust.

What lovely photos - was most intrigued to see the dried up brown lawns. You will have to go back sometime and re-photograph them when they are all green and glowing! Loved the Trafalgar square pic, looking all summery..
